A stunning, relaxing, adventurous two day birding trip from Cusco to one of the most amazing Andean Condor spectacles in South America. An unforgettable journey to the Apurimac Canyon

Day 1:We pick you up from your Cusco hotel early and head west out of Cusco. From here we head across the high plains and Puna Grasslands to the picturesque village of Chonta where we start our 2-hour slow walk to the Condor overlook. We will be birding the whole way as we walk out to the Condors. (See video below). The scenery is spectacular.
Here we watch up to a dozen Andean Condors with a wingspan of 3 meters after leisurely watching, a picnic lunch and great photo ops, we’ll descend in to the Limatambo Valley for a relaxing night at the Yoga Limatambo Guesthouse - a hidden paradise in the Andes. Oda our host will ply us with great gourmet vegetarian food and we can drift off to sleep to the sounds of various owls that live in the garden. L:D
Day 2: This morning after a sumptuous breakfast and garden full of Andean birds we’ll head for Limatambo and stop to look at the impressive stonework and terraces of the little known ruins impressive Inca Ruins of Tarawasi. Our last stop will be at the little visited Inca site of Quillarumiyoc “the place of the moon stone” in Quechua – was an Inca ceremonial site dedicated to the worship of water and, more importantly, to the moon goddess “Quilla”. The complex comprises a series of water channels following the course of a narrow gully, which descends from the mountain overlooking the site to the valley below. These water channels flow past sacred rocks, including the great stone, carved with a geometric representation of the moon, which has given the site its name. We’ll retrace our steps back to Cusco after two days in the most unimaginably amazing scenery. B:L
